CsO
This CD “CsO” contains works that were originally composed for performance and have now been newly re-recorded. These works were originally accompanied by elements such as motion-capture systems worn by dancers and interactive video projections. The intention of this CD is to extract only the musical component and to reinterpret these works with a new focus—treating them purely as compositions in their own right.
The underlying concept stems from corporeality, particularly the dualism of the “virtual body and the real body.” Rather than emphasizing their opposition, the works are conceived from a relative perspective, one of coexistence. While this derives in part from the actual forms of performance and the use of visual material involving the virtual body, it is primarily rooted in the fundamental philosophy of composition. In this sense, the CD allows the listener to grasp the conceptual background underlying these works.
The music itself was entirely composed on the computer, using sound synthesis and sound-processing programs developed by the composer, and in some cases employing algorithms to generate musical data. The pieces are constructed as if building a vast sonic canvas, where multiple textures are layered both in parallel and in sequence. The primary concern lies in how these dense textures can unfold over time. Although the works are grounded in abstract concepts and programming systems, their aim is ultimately to pursue a narrative and expressionist sound world.
